The Yahoo! TV Japan website lists the first episode in the 2009 airing of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime series on Sendai Television (OX) as "Asahina Mikuru no Bōken Episode 00" ("Mikuru Asahina's Adventure Episode 00"). This was also the first episode to air in the original 2006 premiere of the anime series. However, it is not the first episode chronologically in the storyline. A representative of the Japanese publisher Kadokawa Shoten had said in February that this year's "renewed" airing of the anime "is a rebroadcast."
Sendai Television is a broadcasting station in northern Japan that is starting its "renewed" airing of the anime on April 7. Kadokawa Shoten published the original Haruhi Suzumiya light novels from Nagaru Tanigawa and Noizi Ito. America's Little, Brown Books for Young Readers is publishing the light novels in English.
